When importing data from an external source you can select ‘Save As' and save the mapping fields during an import. GiftWorks will then take the saved mapping and offer it to you in the drop-down prior to importing the next time round. One point of note here is that you must specify a unique name for each saved mapping in order to proceed.
Should you then choose to Overwrite a Saved Mapping you may do so within the Import Tool. First, you need to select an existing mapping from the available drop-down menu. You then have the option to make any necessary changes to the existing mapped fields and you can then overwrite so that next time the mapping will include the new changes that were made to it.(see below)
In addition to this you can also select to Load a Saved Mapping after selecting your document to import from its location. So now prior to the mapping section you can select a pre-existing Mapping that has been create and saved in the system. Should your new import document have more or less columns than the original Saved mappings doc, GiftWorks will let you know and ask you how you wish to proceed? In this case you can choose to ignore the blank fields or manually map them yourself.
When importing a file to be imported, you can now save mappings for re-use so that you need not map the same columns to the same fields all over again. You also now have the below attributes:
- You can specify a name and description for the mapping at the start of mapping so you can save the mapping.
- Mapping is saved once you complete mapping the fields and go to the next action
- Name is required to save the mapping but description is optional.
Should you choose to save the mapping without specifying a name you will be unable to proceed and will be shown an appropriate message “Please specify a name for the mapping you wish to save”
