GiftWorks Anywhere Pro is a hosted version of our GiftWorks Pro software. GiftWorks Anywhere Pro uses Citrix technology which allows you to access GiftWorks Anywhere Pro wherever you are through an internet connection.
GiftWorks Anywhere Pro leverages Microsoft SQL Server technologies to deliver increased scalability and capacity that allows GiftWorks to keep up with a growing nonprofit organization.
GiftWorks Anywhere Pro includes all the features that are available with GiftWorks Premium and also our GiftWorks Volunteers and GiftWorks Events addins.
Since GiftWorks Anywhere Pro is a hosted version, there are some differences between GiftWorks Anywhere Pro and the desktop versions of GiftWorks. This article will provide you with information on how they differ and things that only pertain to GiftWorks Anywhere Pro.
Usernames and Passwords
GiftWorks Anywhere Pro:
Your GiftWorks Anywhere Pro username will always start with mr- and usually consists of the first letter of your first name and the first four letters of your last name. So if your name is Jane Smith, your user name will probably be: mr-jsmit. The ‘mr ‘ stands for Mission Research (the makers of GiftWorks).

GiftWorks Sign in:
You may or may not have a password set up to sign in to GiftWorks. GiftWorks Anywhere Pro includes an Advanced Security feature which gives you the ability to create users and passwords to sign in to GiftWorks.
GiftWorks “Settings” area:
GiftWorks can protect your Settings area using an Administrative Password. You may or may not have an Administrative Password set up to access the ‘Settings’ area of GiftWorks. If you do, you will need to enter this password every time you try access any area within the Settings section.
Not all GiftWorks Anywhere Pro users will have a GiftWorks Live account. You will only have a GiftWorks Live account if you have purchased one of our GiftWorks Live Services (GiftWorks Online Donations or GiftWorks Web Collect) Note: GiftWorks Data Protect is not available for GiftWorks Anywhere Pro.
GiftWorks Live Usernames will typically be your first.lastname (ex: john.smith)
NOTE: If you DO NOT have a GiftWorks Live account, you may still be prompted to enter this information in various areas of GiftWorks. If this occurs you can simply close that window without signing in.
What is the File Explorer GiftWorks application?
The File Explorer GiftWorks application is a tool you will use to manage file storage for GiftWorks Anywhere Pro. It will also be used to help you move files between your local computer and the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro drives. You will use this application anytime you need to add something into GiftWorks (like Importing files, adding letters to your Library or attaching files to your donors). You will also use this application anytime you need to take something out of GiftWorks (like Exporting SmartLists and Reports or Saving mailings).
Drives on GiftWorks Anywhere Pro:
G: Drive =Group Drive(Shared drive that all of the users at your Organization can access)
H: Drive =Home Drive(your Personal drive)
Local Disk (C:) = a virtual drive (The virtual drives are pathways back to your local computer)
Example: The Local Disk C: could be equal to C: drive on the local computer.
Moving files between your local computer and GiftWorks Anywhere Pro
Use File Explorer GfitWorks to move files between the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro drives and your local computer. You cannot drag and drop from your local computer to the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro drives OR Save/Export files From GiftWorks Anywhere Pro directly to your local computer.
When you want to import data into GiftWorks, you will first need to move the file from your local computer to the G: or H: drive. Use File Explorer GiftWorks to move the file (as mentioned above)
Exporting and Saving
When you export SmartLists and Reports or Save mailings you MUST export/save to the G: or H: drive and then move to the local computer. Use File Explorer GiftWorks to move the file (as mentioned above)
Adding your own Mailing letters
If you have your own letters that you want to add to the Letter Library you will first need to save the letter as a Rich Text Format (rtf) file. Most word processors can save a file in this format. You will then need to move the letter (saved as .rtf) to the G: or H: drives using the File Explorer GiftWorks in order to insert them.
Printing from GiftWorks Anywhere
GIFTWORKS Anywhere Pro will automatically find your printers and make them available to print to when you choose to print from GiftWorks. There is nothing that needs to be setup within GiftWorks or Citrix for this to work.
Emailing from GiftWorks Anywhere
You can set up your own outgoing mail server to send emails from GiftWorks Anywhere Pro.
Using QuickBooks with GiftWorks Anywhere Pro
You do have the option to configure GiftWorks Anywhere Pro with your QuickBooks Company File.
If you are considering using GiftWorks Anywhere Pro and QuickBooks, please keep in mind the following:
GiftWorks Anywhere Pro is running on our GiftWorks Anywhere Pro servers. To use QuickBooks to sync with GiftWorks Anywhere Pro, you will need to use QuickBooks that is hosted on the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro servers also. This will require additional set up and your Company’s QuickBooks license information.
Your QuickBooks company file will need to reside on Q: drive on the GiftWorks Anywhere server. Use File Explorer GiftWorks to move the file (as mentioned above)
Anyone needing to use QuickBooks will also need a GiftWorks Anywhere account. If you do not want to use QuickBooks on the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro servers, it would be possible to copy your QuickBooks company file to the GiftWorks Anywhere servers (when you want to synchronize GiftWorks and QuickBooks) temporarily and then copy your QuickBooks company file back to your computer. This would require at least one GiftWorks Anywhere user to have QuickBooks.

GiftWorks File Storage
If you want to add files for a donor, you will need to move the files you to the G: or H: drive. Use File Explorer GiftWorks to move the file (as mentioned above).
When you turn this feature on, a ‘GiftWorks-File-Storage’ folder will be created in the same location as your GiftWorks database file (.gds). DO NOT delete this folder. If you ever move your GiftWorks database file (.gds), you will need to move the ‘GiftWorks-File-Storage’ folder to the same location as your GiftWorks database file.
***Do not save any of your own files in this folder-including GiftWorks back ups***
Backing up GiftWorks
Backing up your GiftWorks Pro database will ensure that you always have a copy of your GiftWorks information.
Click on the Settings icon at the top of GiftWorks, then click on the Backup your database link under the Database, Files and Maintenance area.
Since you are using GiftWorks Anywhere Pro, you will not be able to chose the location to save the back up to. It will automatically default to a location on the GiftWorks Anywhere Pro servers. Choose a name for your back up file and click on Backup Now to complete the backup process.
If you need to Restore a back up, you will need to contact GiftWorks Customer Care.
